Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

No - CRRH-UEMOA refinances all types of housing mortgage loans up to 100 million CFA francs. Its intervention is not limited to government programs.

CRRH-UEMOA's mission is to develop financing for access to housing for households in the eight WAEMU countries. CRRH-UEMOA therefore only refinances residential property, not commercial or multi-purpose facilities.

CRRH-UEMOA does not partner with property developers, as it does not directly finance the construction of housing. It finances buyers indirectly through banks and DFS.

The guarantee required by CRRH-UEMOA to offer its refinancing solutions is the pledge of a portfolio of mortgage loans in its favor.

The CRRH-UEMOA can grant a refinancing loan to a bank if it provides a mortgage loan portfolio of at least 50% initially, which must be gradually increased to reach 120%. The requirements for DFSs are more flexible.

Banks must pledge mortgage loans representing at least 50% of the loan amount when applying for refinancing. CRRH-UEMOA gives banks two years to gradually build up a portfolio of mortgage loans equal to 120% of the loan amount, after which the bank has a further year to obtain the CIHs. Throughout the period during which the portfolio is gradually built up, CRRH-UEMOA supports the banks with field missions, technical assistance and training.

CRRH-UEMOA is a private company. Two-thirds of its capital is held by 58 WAEMU commercial banks and one-third by four institutional investors (BOAD, IFC, EBID and Shelter Afrique). CRRH-UEMOA is a banking financial company.

CRRH-UEMOA has no link with the WAEMU Commission. The acronym "WAEMU" in its name is a reminder that the CRRH-UEMOA operates in the eight WAEMU countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo.

CRRH-UEMOA's head office is in Lomé, Togo. It does not have a subsidiary or representative office in each of the states, but it does operate in the eight WAEMU countries. CRRH-UEMOA teams regularly travel to the eight countries to liaise with local banks and DFS.

CRRH-UEMOA does not offer loans to individuals. Homeowners must apply to commercial banks, mortgage banks and the DFS for a home loan, which can be refinanced by CRRH-UEMOA under certain conditions.

CRRH-UEMOA provides banks with long-term facilities at competitive rates that they can use to match their long-term assets (mortgage loans) in order to improve their asset/liability management. To obtain financing from CRRH-UEMOA, all you need to do is send us a complete file with a portfolio of eligible mortgages. The CRRH-UEMOA teams are at the banks' disposal for any further information.

CRRH-UEMOA offers three types of product: mortgage portfolio refinancing, securitization and portfolio guarantee solutions. Banks and DFS can contact the CRRH-UEMOA teams for further information
